READ: Ephesians 2:10
Inside an old barbeque grill I found a bird’s nest. It was small, not a large nest, and nestled between the racks of the rusty grill. The unusual and remarkable thing about the nest was the way it was constructed. There was not one twig, not one blade of grass, not one piece of pine straw in the nest. The nest was made entirely of bits of yarn and string. Instead of a brown and gray nest, this nest was made of yellow, white, black, and orange yarn. I would love to know what creative little bird walked to such a different drummer as to build such a unique one-of-a-kind nest. Each of us is a one-of-a-kind creation of God. There is no one else quite like you, and interestingly, most of us spend the rest of our lives after birth trying to conform to each other. We spend the rest of our lives trying to look and act and talk like our neighbors so that we will be accepted and so that we will fit in. God designed us to be special. God was designing a unique person for a unique one-of-a-kind task. We diminish the plans of God when we force ourselves into a mold made for someone else. Remember, you are God’s unique workmanship. Rejoice in your uniqueness.
