Stella’s House (there are actually several of them all in a row) are a ministry of Phillip Cameron Ministries where girls can stay after they have aged out of the orphanages. Without Stella’s House, many of these girls would likely have ended up being forced into prostitutions and being trafficked across Europe. This is modern day slavery and Moldova is often considered the sex slavery capitol of Europe.
Tonight (Tuesday evening) we will travel to Cupcui. We are staying in a guest house on the property of the Providence Orphanage. This is the house Phillip Cameron lived in when he would visit the orphanage. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday will be spent playing with the children at this orphanage. We have seven large suitcases filled with games, crafts, sports equipment, toiletries and clothes for the children. We will blow bubbles, making pictures, throwing Frisbee’s and playing soccer (football). Our expectation is that our primary mission here is to spend time with and love on the children.
Saturday we hope to visit an orphanage in Hincesti. Please put this on your prayer list this week. This orphanage is for children with special needs. From the beginning of our planning process we have felt called to spend some time here, but logistics and permission are not easy and it is tentative right now. We also plan to spend some time in Chisinau (capitol) on Saturday at the market.
Sunday we are going to church with the girls at Stella’s house. The current plan includes our group doing some of the teaching. That evening we get to enjoy some authentic Moldovan cuisine at a restaurant in Chisinau. I think that most of the week we will be cooking for ourselves at the guest house.
Monday morning we pack up and head home. We should land in Atlanta around 11:00 pm Monday night and then make the drive back home.
This was a long first blog, but we wanted to give you a snapshot of the week.
