SPIRIT-Older Adult Ministry
The Alabama Christian Academy A Capella Chorus recently delighted guests at the monthly Adult Ministry gathering called “SPIRIT”. The choir, made up of students attending ACA, sang several selections as guests enjoyed a delicious meal at tables decorated beautifully for Valentine’s Day. SPIRIT meets on the second Thursday of each month, please stop in for a visit! For more information contact Martha John Allison at martha@frazerumc.org.
Frazer Student Ministry—DNOW
Close to 200 students learned what it means to die to self and be “all in” for the Tribe of Jesus at Disciple Now Weekend. The DNOW weekend is a favorite retreat for youth at Frazer, this year attracting a huge crowd of both students and adult leaders. The students heard from the guest speaker, Joseph Sojourner “Sojo”; worshiped with The Digital Age and spent quality time in small groups going deeper with what was heard during each worship session. Youth minister Chase Faulk added a parent chat session at the end of the weekend, to help parents know how to continue the discussion so the lessons of DNOW live on far beyond the actual weekend of fellowship!
Worship
A new setup in Wesley Hall is designed to help all of us stay centered on the Cross during this season of Lent. Praise and Worship Leader Jerrod Dorminey and the praise team lead worship now from the center of the room rather than the stage. Those worshiping in Contemporary say they love the new intimate feel of the setup. Even members of the praise team say they enjoy it because they are closer to the people and can hear them singing along! Stop in Contemporary worship soon one Sunday morning to experience this “Centered on the Cross” worship experience.
Small Groups & Bible Studies
Be sure to get the latest edition of Connections magazine so you can find a place to get plugged into a small group at Frazer. The recent Men’s Bible Study in Wesley Hall on Wednesday nights drew another large crowd with participants breaking into small groups each night discussing lessons from the Fight sermon series. Real life-change happens in small groups as you grow and share life experiences together. Stop by the Connection Desk in our atrium to get plugged in or go to the Frazer website at Frazer.church and hit the link reading “small groups”.
English as a Second Language
Did you know close to 20 countries are represented in our English as a Second Language or ESL classes? The English as a Second Language program is an on-going, mission-based, community ministry for adults that meets at Frazer each Tuesday night. The ESL ministry offers free English classes, free child care for children 5 years old and younger, and a free snack supper for all adults who need to learn or want to improve their English skills. The program is at 7pm-8:45pm, meeting in rooms 3201-3218. For more information, contact Kay Bray at 334 277-5104.
Celebrating the Frazer Family!
Members of the Frazer Staff gathered recently to support one of their own. Frazer’s Food Services Director Barbara Williams lost her home and everything she owned in a fire in 2015. She and her family are getting settled into a new home, so her co-workers threw a house warming shower—showering her with a homemade lunch and gifts to help restock her home. We love you Barbara!
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
