Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
Youth Worship Arts—Music Ministry
The Frazer Family turned out in a big way to support more than 70 youth involved in the Youth Worship Arts. To the theme of “Motown Sound”, the youth performed for two sold out crowds on a recent Sunday afternoon. This 11th annual YWA Dinner Theatre served as a fundraiser for the group’s summer choir tour to Detroit, Michigan. The event raised more than $6,000 from ticket sales and donations. YWA Director Debbie Peavy sends out a huge thank you to the many volunteers and the Frazer congregation for supporting our young people. Please keep this group in your prayers as more than 100 people travel June 20th-27th to share the love of God with people in Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Alabama.
Frazer Scouting Program
Frazer UMC is excited to see the Scout program growing for both boys and girls! With more children interested in taking part, the search is on for leaders. Frazer Cub Scout Leader Chad Irving is looking for another leader to reactivate a Frazer Scout unit. Two Girl Scout troops are growing and Montgomery’s first and only chartered organization for a Sea Scout Ship is going strong! In January, Frazer Sea Scouts attended a Sea Scout Academy hosted by the Yacht Club in Fairhope, Alabama. The Sea Scouts plan to meet Sunday, May 17th at 12:15pm at Hobby Lobby across Atlanta Highway from Frazer. This meeting will be held to discuss a sailing outing and summer activities. For more information contact Chad Irving at cirving2.0@gmail.com.
Missions—Hope Inspired Ministries (HIM)
Frazer supported Hope Inspired Ministries recently celebrated the graduation of 10 students from their program. They had the largest audience ever for a HIM Graduation, and we’re told the audience was clearly moved by every speech. HIM is a ministry created to help men and women who were chronically unemployed to be able to obtain and maintain employment. In doing so, they can become self-sufficient and productive citizens, thereby building dignity and self-worth in their lives. The graduates’ speeches are always filled with hope and inspiration. HIM leaders like to share the speeches as a way of saying thank you to supporters like Frazer, who help change lives for Him! Here’s a portion of what Honors Graduate Donnell Woods had to say on this special day:
“Now I have been at Hope Inspired Ministries and this program is my new family. I have learned a lot of ways to be a more productive citizen and a role model for my children. I have stopped selling and using drugs. This program has really treated me like a son and I’m going to use everything I have learned from this program throughout the rest of my life. I will show my kids that you can work hard and it will pay off in your future.
When I leave Hope Inspired Ministries, I am going to finish getting my GED. I am actually scheduled next week to take a section of the test. I also want to work on a job, and go to Trenholm Tech to get my CDL so I can make a better life for my kids and send them to college.”
