“While eating lunch today at Chick-fil-A, the worker recognized our bright shirts and thanked us for going to Christ Fellowship Church yesterday.”
Miami Boys and Girls Club
“You came all the way from Alabama for me? I can’t believe you did this all for me! You spent all this money on me! Thank you, thank you, thank you so much!” given with hugs from one of their girls to one of our girls.
Love, Joy, Peace, Kindness…as one of our girls explained why each of these are so important, a bead was placed on a string to make a bracelet. The little girl wanted to keep repeating the beads to keep hearing about love and kindness. When done she would exclaim, “Say it again!”
Throughout our time at the Miami Boys and Girls Club special bonds were made. Here are a few comments:
“The 7th and 8th graders really opened up and talked to us while we were doing gimp.”
“I made a friend who spoke Spanish. He brought over his friend as a translator and we were able to talk to each other.”
“I was paired with a 6th grader today. We talked as if we had known each other for years.
