We toured the Capitol this afternoon. That building in beautiful. Everyone should see the center of our country’s government. While waiting in line to begin the tour, the choir began singing the national anthem. The acoustics were great and it sounded beautiful. Everyone in the building gave a big applause at the end. That is, everyone except one of the “guides”. She came over and told us that we couldn’t do that. It was too late. We were already finished. She went on to tell that we would not be able to sing at the Lincoln Memorial. Of course we did. Isn’t that something? We are standing in our nation’s capitol and they tell us we are not supposed to sing the anthem.
Our performance at the Lincoln Memorial was very moving. We had spectators from all around the world. Many stopped and watched for a long while. Some even joined the group long enough to get their picture made. Everyone heard about God’s love…..perhaps for the first time.
