We continued with our painting of the front gateway and fence going into the orphanage today as well. I’m happy to say we are seeing progress! We have half of the rails completed! We should start with concrete tomorrow. I never knew painting could be so tiring until today. Needless to say, I believe we were all a little exhausted after leaving the orphanage. However, I was so glad we got to love on a few of the children again and house mothers before we left for the night.
I had the opportunity today to take a little break and go off by myself to have some quite just me and God while at the orphanage. As I prayed and sat in the middle of God’s glorious nature, He brought this verse to mind “Just as the son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many”(Matt 20:28). As a Christian, we all strive to be more and more like Christ everyday and what better way than to serve others and live our life for others just as our Savior did. However, as we discussed in our group devotional this morning we want to “do good quietly” so that only God gets the glory not man. As we do your work Lord, please let others see you and not us and keep on stirring our hearts for the desire to serve you in everything we do.
Also as a new member to the Brazil mission team I have been struggling with the language barrier between Portuguese and English. I am reminded by Matthew 28:18-20 that God told us to go into ALL the world and proclaim His love to everyone! He didn’t say learn the language, adapt to their culture, or understand their way of life. He simply said, “Go ye therefore!” This is a command from our Lord. I am slowly learning Portuguese with the help of my Maringa friends and have come to adapt and understand very well to this wonderful cultural. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to serve God by showing his love to those in Maringa!
Please pray that our group has a very restful night tonight so that we are ready to give our God our best tomorrow!
