Peru – We’re HOME!

We made it home around 1130 today.  We travelled through the night.  As we reflect on this year, this team was special.  We not only worked and served together, we became very close friends.  It’s amazing how 13 people can draw close together as we come to depend upon one another.  Each team member brought a gift that only God could have entrusted them with and that gift wasn’t preaching the Gospel; it was living it.  For instance, Patrick and Fred awoke early each morning to prepare every breakfast.  Boyd washed every dirty dish and brought a “here am I, send me” attitude to every day.  All the men worked so well together and the construction site but the true team were the women!  Every morning they worked deligently to prepare for the carnivals.  They organized every game, counted every toy, prepared every mother’s bag, and set up the carnivals upon their arrival and never once complained about their living conditions; except some of the beds need a little adjustment for next year.

For me, well I’ve probably worked the least but regardless I know God blessed me and He blessed this adventure.  It’s probably not right for a manly man to admit this but not a day went by without tears.  Tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of excitement, and tears for God’s blessings!

And finally, Jim!  God has captured Jim’s heart for mission. You can see it, you can feel it, and you can appreciate it!

Thank you Lord for such a special man of God.  I’m blessed that Jim Johnson is not just my team leader but he’s also my best friend!  Thanks Jim for taking us on God’s Peru adventure this year. 

You know you’ve been touched when all you can talk about is what happened this year and then start planning next year!  As Paul said, (paraphrased) . . . “let’s go back, if it be God’s WILL!
