What a beautiful day in Maringa! The weather was gorgeous and the children were out of school today. It was great,…the first day since Sunday we have been able to spend any real time with ALL of the children. Some worked and some played but we were all doing the Lord’s work. The sound of their laughter was music to our ears.
Our day began with completing the cement sidewalk lining the outside of Lar Betania. The workers were so sweet they even dug up a small patch of grass outside the gates and mixed a little extra cement so we could all sign our names. Once the cement mixing was finished we painted the cement walkways around the homes. Just before lunch we were joined by another team from Alabama,…the Church of the Highlands in Auburn. They are hosting basketball camps in Londrina and were able to come to Maringa and spend the day with the children. With all of the Americans on site the local media visited the orphanage and interviewed the team leaders and a couple of the children. What great exposure for Lar Betania!!!
This trip has been vastly different from previous years in that we have been unable to spend much time with the children. In the past we have been blessed in having the children surround us as we work but this year the interaction has been sparse so today was a wonderful treat. In my quiet time I have wondered what we are supposed to learn from this change. I only pray that whatever it is, we are listening when He is speaking.
Though in the recesses of my mind I must have known, it was recently pointed out that God will not scream at us to get our attention. If we are too focused on our own desires we will not hear God’s whispers. We must pray that God reveal His will and listen patiently for His response. We must reach for that whisper and let it guide us. If we fail to do this we will miss out on the advice and direction God is offering.
Blessings,
Michelle
