Playing in the Rain

The weather in Brazil has been very nice.  The high today was 71 degrees.  Most of us started out the morning in jackets or sweatshirts.  We didn’t complain because we know how hot and humid it is in Montgomery.  The forecast projected rain today and we were not sure exactly when it was going to rain and how it was going to impact our work today.  It didn’t surprise any of us of the Lord’s faithfulness.  We were able to work all morning and some after lunch before the rain began.  It was perfect timing because we were done with prepping the sidewalk forms with gravel for the cement that is to arrive tomorrow.

Several of us spent the afternoon playing soccer in the rain with two of the orphans.  They are brothers, Philippe and Anderson.  It is a memory that we don’t think any of us will forget including Philippe and Anderson.  We all started laughing when Philippe retreated for a few minutes and came back out with an umbrella.  At that point, we decided that maybe it was raining a little too hard to play soccer.  It brought back memories for all of us of what it was like to play in the rain as children.

“Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.  Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’  The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”  Psalm 126:2-3
