While at the orphanage, we were reunited with the children that we know from previous years and we got to meet a lot of new children. Each of us on the team are working really hard on remembering their names. We also got to talk to the director of the orphanage about the work will be doing so that we would be more prepared for tomorrow. In addition, we toured the house that we worked on last year because it is finished and now occupied by house parents and some of the children of Lar Betania.
We only spent a couple of hours at the orphanage; yet, it clearly put things into perspective. We come to Brazil to do construction and help the orphanage improve their buildings and physical facilities. But more importantly we come to Brazil to impact the lives of the children at the orphanage and the adults that we work with here. As I sat and watched the children today and my teammates interacting with them, it was very clear that the most important thing we can do while we are here is love these children and show them the love of Jesus that each of us experience daily. It really isn’t about the manual labor we will do, it is about the relationships we have with these children. “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
Please pray for us this week that the children would understand that the love we have for them is the love of Jesus. May we be the hands and feet of Jesus this week.
This evening we had a wonderful worship experience at church. While we did not understand most of the service since it is in portugeuse, we could definitely feel the presence of the Lord.
In His Grip,
Marcilla
Keeping you and the team in my prayers.
