Our team will be leaving Friday afternoon, May 21st for Maringa, Brazil. While in Maringa, we will be working at an orphanage, Lar Betania (Bethany House), doing construction work and ministering to the children there. This orphanage is run by one of the churches in Maringa (Igreja Missionaria Central). Some of the children at Lar Betania are there because their parents are alcoholics, drug addicts, prostitutes, or just financially unable to afford them. The ministry of the church is to rehabilitate the parents and restore the family. The other children are there because they are true orphans.
We are told in James 1:27 that “pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans adn widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.” During our time in Brazil, we are praying that God will use us in the lives of these children to help them see that Jesus Christ loves them.
Please pray for our team as we prepare to leave this week and while we are on the trip. Prayer requests for the team include:

I trust you have had safe travel today and am looking forward to your next blog entry. We have been passing the word reminding many to be praying for you today and throughout your trip. May God use you mightily in the lives of the children and others you encounter along the way in Brazil and as you travel. I pray that your passion for God and His Kingdom will grow because of your involvement in this mission trip. I pray that you would fall in love with “the lost” and not be able to rest without sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. I pray those things for myself as well. Have a very blessed trip.
