Frazer Student Ministry
The Frazer Student Ministry team has just returned from participating in The Youth Pastor Summit in Orlando. This getaway provided our youth leaders with a look at the mindset of this generation of students, how they learn and therefore how best to reach them. Several speakers shared valuable wisdom and direction including words from Teaching Pastor and author Francis Chan who told the student leaders they must be rooted in Christ and everything flows from that! Frazer is blessed with a dynamic, caring team of student leaders!
Men’s Life
Frazer member Rev. Bob Brown served as the guest speaker at the recent Men’s Life Breakfast. His thought-provoking message was taken from John 2:1-11 where he used the story of Jesus turning water into wine to illustrate several points. Bob talked about how the relationship between Jesus and Mary changed from “mother to son” to “woman to Savior” in her request that Jesus help resolve the wedding wine shortage problem. Bob said, “As Jesus produced an abundance of wine at the wedding, He also gives us more than we need when we go to Him in our times of need.” Men’s Life gathers on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30am in the Fellowship Hall for food and fellowship! Drop in, you’ll be glad you did.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Frazer’s Cornerstone Sunday School Class helped make the recent ESL meeting fulfilling in more ways than one! A delicious dinner was served along with an inspirational devotional time from Kay Bray. Kay shared from John 11:25 which then led into the large group lesson, led by Charlotte Bentley. Several Frazer volunteers give of their time and talents to teach English and share the love of Christ. ESL meets every Tuesday evening at Frazer. The last day of class for this session is May 3 with the end-of-year party for the students on May 10.
Sunday Morning Worship
Frazer UMC is blessed with many outstanding teachers and preachers including pastor emeritus Dr. John Ed Mathison. “John Ed” as he’s known to everyone, preached in the Sanctuary service this past Sunday and shared what he’s been up to in his so called “retirement”. John Ed will travel to India two times this year where 25,000 people a day are coming to Christ. He’s part of a God-Size Vision to start five million churches and win one billion people to Christ by 2020. This was the vision of Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade. He invited a group people to help carry out this vision. John Ed says, “I have been privileged to participate in the planning and execution of the plan to bring about this God-size vision.” John Ed served as senior pastor at Frazer for 36 years. To learn more about his ministry today go to johnedmathison.org.
Our thanks to Frazer member and volunteer photographer Lee Werling for capturing these images of worship at Frazer on a beautiful spring day.
Celebrating the Frazer Family
Frazer’s senior pastor, Dr. Tim Thompson had three more reasons to celebrate a beautiful Easter Sunday! Tim could be seen in the atrium visiting with his three grandchildren and their parents (his daughters). We continue to cover Tim and Virginia in prayer as they prepare to step into a new season after his retirement in early June.
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
