Here we are in what might sound like and look like a tropical paradise…Miami, with all its palm trees and lush foliage, its beautiful beaches and sunny blue skies. Yet there’s an altogether different city beneath the surface. Our Miami mission team is each day discovering heartbreaking facets of the plentiful harvest field that have deeply moved and inspired our young people to serve and share the love of God.
We are working this week in conjunction with Christ Fellowship, a church older than the city of Miami and situated in the midst of the towering downtown skyscrapers. Step out the door and chances are you’ll hear the raucous sounds of inmates at a Federal Penitentiary. Catch the MetroMover rapid transit station next door and in minutes you can step into Miami’s center for the homeless, a model facility but, like the prison, a symbol of shattered lives and sheep with no shepherd. Our mission team is experiencing firsthand the reality of bad decisions and the hopelessness of life without Christ. We spend long days of hard work at a nearby children’s home which houses over 80 orphans and foster children impacted by the Haiti earthquake and domestic turmoil. And our youth share with them the hope and love of Jesus.
How very proud you would surely be if you were here to see for yourself the zeal of these young members of our Frazer family. Whether they’re serving up meals for over 400 homeless at a time, or showing loving care for orphans hungering for tenderness and attention, this is a team that through the power of the Holy Spirit is carrying out its mission and demonstrating the love of Christ.
Please pray for us as we move into the closing days of this special trip. And join us in praising God for having brought us here to touch so many who are saying, “Yes, Lord!” to Jesus.
