Today’s experience is something that will always hold a special place in my heart. Miami is my first mission trip that I have been on, so I didn’t really know what to expect. We served breakfast and lunch to the homeless today. I was really inspired because to see people that come in and have literally nothing but the clothes they are wearing and they were so grateful for what they have. When we served the homeless we broke into groups. Some were helping in the kitchen, and some were giving out clothes. I was part of the evangelism team and that was an amazing experience!
To be part of the evangelism team was something that was really out of my comfort zone, but I knew I wanted to take every chance I got to share God’s love with others. It was really moving to get to know these people and their stories. But hearing their stories made me feel really selfish, because I’ve grown up always having food, shelter and clothing. I take it all for granted. It made me realize how unimportant material things are. None of those things matter if you don’t have Jesus in your life. When I prayed with them, I just wanted them to know that they are God’s children, and He has neverending love for all of us! I really felt God’s presence with us today. He is going to do great things with them.
