Today was the first day we got out in the community, and as a whole, I can honestly say it was unreal. I only thought the language barrier in the Dominican Republic of Spanish was difficult, but Russian has been a real set back. Russian is a language that is very hard to just pick up on. The language barrier has been the largest one I have personally come in contact with on this trip, but as difficult as it seems to overcome, it can be easily broken. Earlier today I was thinking about how similar the language barrier is to the barriers that we put between us and God, and they can be broken in the same way. We sometimes lay a barrier between us and God and think that we cannot relate to Him and maybe even think since it is hard to relate that we should not even try, which is the same way many people including me view a language barrier. The language barrier is hard but it is totally worth breaking down. The same with the language barrier and with our barriers with God, if we just drop all the masks we have put on and be real and show true love, all barriers fall and that is when God can truly step in and do powerful and awesome things. Relationships whether with God or other people can be very hard, but God calls us to love everyone and God calls us to love him and in the end, every bit of struggle we have gone through to do so, will always be totally worth it.
