Well, we did it! We wrapped up out construction project just in time to run our last carnival and serve one more meal. We probably served well over 350 adults and children a hot meal and remarkably never dropped a plate. It’s very difficult to put into words what this team experienced this week. We’ve seen so much need and so much poverty; our hearts were definitely touched if not broken for these wonderful people. There are so many needs. One expressed need is one of marriage counseling. Our missionary friends who live in Trujillo tell us there are some serious marital issues so one of our goals for next year is to respond to this need.
We ended our stay in Trujillo Friday with a Communion service at the Central Church. Once you’ve been in the field and saw God work so many wonders, Communion takes on a special meaning and a wonderful affect on your heart!
Following the Communion service, we boarded a bus and made the 9 hour journey back to Lima. We were all tired and ready for a good night’s sleep. It was the first time in a week, my wife and I had slept together. Ironically, Jim booked us a room with two twin beds! We crawled under the the Alpacca blanket and promply slept through the Saturday morning team meeting.
It’s been a great trip! See you all on Sunday! We look forward to sharing our adventure with all of you!
