We attended Sunday school and then worshipped with the Central church in the morning. We sang praise songs in Spanish and English but one constant; the tunes were very familiar and Pastor Martin taught us a lesson about the crippled man whose friends lowered him through the roof so Jesus could heal him. Martin’s message was simple. Are we like the friends who lowered the cripple through the roof? People, despite their denominational label, who are innovated and creative to bring friends and neighbors to Jesus despite the obstacles in front of us; or, are we like the Pharisees who were innovated and creative obstacles to the people who want to come to Jesus?
That afternoon we held our first children’s carnival and community fellowship meal at Miguel Grau; an extension of the Central Church. We entertained over 150 children at the carnival where the children played games and “won” trinkets. The evening program was an evangelical movie, the Gospel, and a meal of chicken and rice. The children who attended the carnival went home and invited or brought Mom and Dad to the community meal. We served over 50 adults and eighty children which was twice as many as last year. What a miracle! AND a blessing!
