For a mission team leader, sometimes the easiest part of a mission trip is the ………mission trip.
The e-mails have been going back and forth between me and Martin Reeves since January. We used Frazer’s WIN, DISCIPLE and SERVE motto to set ministry goals. We used my love for food to establish menus and eating schedules. We monitored flight schedules and pricing until we finally hit the buy button. We continued to add team members until we reached 14 people and ran out of time. We started collecting school supplies for the children and family necessities for the MOM’s ministry. We recruited team members in Peru to help us with cooking the community evangelistic meals. We verified that they had sheets, blankets and pillows for us when we arrived . We negotiated a charter bus that would pick up the team at the Lima airport at midnight and drive us seven hrs up the PanAmerican hwy to Trujillo while we caught up on our sleep. We worked our budget and then sharpened our pencil and worked the budget again. Somehow we are going to do a $30000. missions trip with $28000.! We have our itinerary and team t-shirts and a willingness to GO. And now the easy part…….. A front row seat as God takes ordinary people and does extraordinary things in Trujillo, Peru.
