Greetings from UMCOR at Baldwin, Louisiana
Monday morning came early and we were eager to start working at the UMCOR Depot.
After a brief orientation of job opportunities and an overview of the history of Sager Brown UMCOR, it was time to work! Jacque and I made school kits and birthing kits, while Sherfae was sewing school bags for more kits. Alex was working out in the community installing insulation and sheetrock in a home.
We were amazed by the Depot full of donated supplies from churches all over the country. 115,000 health kits are boxed and ready for shipment to Haiti, hopefully next week. There are another 100,000+ waiting for volunteers to inspect them and box them for shipping. It was a very humbling experience to be even a small part of such an enormous work of God’s people. Christ’s love through His children for the world is overflowing in this place!
Though tired, we feel extremely blessed tonight. Pray for rest and God’s preparation for our service tomorrow at the Domestic Abuse Shelter, at the Depot and on the Construction site. Thank you for your support, prayers and encouragement.
