Human Think, Human Do
March 18, 2016
Proverbs 23:7 “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”
What you put into your mind sooner or later is going to show up in
the way you act and live and respond to life. The human mind is an
amazing instrument. It is a thought-producing factory. It produces
thousands of thoughts every day, and what you put into your brain
will determine your thoughts. Someone said, “A man is known by the
company his mind keeps.” We can think ourselves into a state of
misery and unhappiness. We can also think our way into a state of
joy and happiness. If you think about yourself all the time, you get
self-absorbed and selfish and depressed. If you think about others,
you become a giving person. If you think about sin for long enough,
you will think yourself into action. If you think about your problems all
day long, you become miserable. If you think about possibilities, then
you live with hope. Long before people were preaching and teaching
about the power of positive thinking, there was God reminding us of
the power of our thoughts. In Philippians 4:8 we are reminded that
”Whatever is excellent, whatever is pure, whatever is good, whatever
is beautiful, think on these things.” In other words, fill your mind with
good stuff, Godly stuff. If you change your thoughts, you can change
your life. Read, watch, and listen to positive, uplifting words. Avoid
negative, trashy world talk, and fill your mind with God thoughts, with
God’s word. Let the mind of the Master be the master of your mind.
Today change your thoughts to God thoughts, and you may discover
that it will change your entire life.
