During the season of Advent, we celebrate the coming of Christ. In Mark 10, Jesus shares that one of the reasons he came here was to serve others. Likewise, our calling as Christians is to serve those in need. I am very thankful to be a part of a congregation who seeks to help people who are struggling. Here are just a few things our church family has done the past two months:
- Our church bought new toys for low-income families so they can purchase them at a discounted rate through our Christmas Store. The store allows families to buy toys they could not otherwise afford and gives parents the dignity of buying presents for their own kids.
- We’ve provided over 1,000 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. These boxes will provide Christmas presents for vulnerable children all around the world.
- Through our One Family ministry, we purchased Christmas presents for foster care children all around our city.
- We’ve hosted lunch banquets for children and adults with special needs.
We’ve also sent Christmas presents to some of our missionaries and assisted several families through our In Christ’s Way Ministry. I’m certain that I am missing a few things, but hopefully this gives you a glimpse of how God is working through our church. Thank you for your service! Thank you for your generosity!
