You Are What You Think: Part 2
October 28, 2015
Matthew 4:4 “People do not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God.”
Let’s go back to what you think about today. Let’s go back to thought management. We ended yesterday’s devotional by saying, “When your God thoughts outnumber man’s thoughts is when you begin to take control of your life. Jesus said, “People do not live by bread alone but by every word from the mouth of God.” To manage your thoughts so they produce good fruit in your life, you need to know God’s word. Perhaps you know more of what the culture says than what God’s word says. I encourage you to get into the Word daily, and even begin to memorize scripture. Psalm 119:11 says, “I’ve hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” God’s word will guard your heart and mind. Feed your mind by God’s truth. It will keep you from producing weeds in your life, and you will begin producing fruit. Submit your thoughts to the authority of God’s word. The more selective you are about the seeds you plant in your mind, the more delighted you will be by the crop that is produced. On a tombstone in a cemetery on St. Simon’s Island, there is the name of a deceased, the date of her birth, and the date of her death. These words of epitaph were on her stone, “Ever she sought the best and ever she found it.” It’s true. If you think the best, you will find the best. Keep thinking the best thoughts. Jesus did. Jesus filled His mind with the word of God. I wonder what would happen if you were to do what He did.
