Simplify—Multiply—Magnify
October 9, 2015
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
How complicated is your life? My Dad likes to use the expression, “Trying to pack 20 pounds into a 2 pound bag.” I think of that saying whenever I’m juggling projects at work, caring for aging loved ones, and racing around town helping my teenage daughter get homecoming costumes together! Why do we allow our lives to get so over-scheduled? Some things can’t be helped, but many others could be dropped or rescheduled. In Matthew 6:33, we are told to seek first the kingdom of God and then everything else will fall into place. If we will simplify our lives for Christ, He promises to meet and even exceed our needs and the end result is a magnifying of our trust and faith in God. When we put Him first, live surrendered and give Him the glory, our Savior is magnified to those around us. Even Jesus simplified things when asked, “What is the greatest commandment?” in Matthew 22:37. His answer, “Love your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and love your neighbor as yourself.” When you clear out the clutter of your life and pour your energy into loving our Savior, you’ll become a mighty vessel for reaching others. Let’s keep things simple and watch our Savior move and be magnified.
