First
October 7, 2015
Matthew 6:31-33 “Therefore do not be anxious…for Your heavenly Father knows what you need. But seek first the kingdom of God…”
“I wanna be first!” Many kids always exclaim when asking who wants to play a game or who wants to be the line leader. It’s always about me when you’re younger, but do we really grow out of that? As I was on my way to buy groceries the other day, the song “First” came on the radio and the lyrics just nailed me to where I had to sit in the parking lot and listen and pray as God stirred my heart. I was asking God to go with me as I quickly needed to get my groceries, but then I stopped and said, “God, before I ask for Your favor in getting my to do list done today, I want to stop and seek Your heart first!” The lyrics washed over me there in the van, “Before I bring my need I will bring my heart. Before I lift my cares I will lift my arms. I want to know You in every season, every moment I want to keep You FIRST. More than anything I want YOU first. Before I speak a word let me hear Your voice and in the midst of pain let me feel Your joy…” What is first in your life? What do we do at the very first part of our day? Is the day ours or is it His? Is He first in our finances, our time, our families? What has first place in your life today? As you strive to keep things right in your life, I encourage you to keep Him first. With Him first in everything, we can be successful in all things! He “FIRST loved you” so be encouraged today!
