Mark 5:27-28 -“27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” (NIV)
There was a woman at the end of her rope. She had been sick for years and years. Her sickness had caused her to be ostracized from her community and be known as a woman who was unclean. Isolated and alone, she lived her life at the end of the rope. She had heard about a man named Jesus who was a faith healer, and one day when He came to her town, she had nothing to lose. When He walked by, she reached out to Him, and she touched Him. When she grabbed hold of Jesus, suddenly the weight of a lifetime was lifted off of her shoulders. She was made well physically, she was made well emotionally, and she was made well spiritually when she grabbed hold of Jesus. If we hold on to Jesus, we can let go of everything else. If we hold on to Jesus, we will get freed from despair and the fear of death. If we hold on to Jesus, He will free us from the drain of guilt, and He will free us from the burden that success sometimes brings. If we hold on to Jesus, He will open us up to a power that is so greater than our own that it can transform our lives into a whole new form of wholeness. When the woman who was sick came to Jesus, she was clothed in shame and hopelessness, but when Jesus touched her, her life was transformed. Are you willing to slip your hand into Jesus’ hands today? Are you ready to hold on to Him for dear life? If you are at the end of the rope, why not grab hold to the One who has hold of the other end of the rope and He will never let you go. Grab hold to Jesus. Be healed and be held.
