Our church sent a 14 member team to Trujillo, Peru this past month. Six of the team members made their very first trip to the country. Our team partnered with several local churches and Frazer supported missionaries Martin and Tracy Reeves in doing several projects throughout the week.
They sponsored five afternoon fiestas for children and then invited the families of those children to community meals in the evening. In addition, they provided over 700 children with goody bags filled with schools supplies, fresh fruit , and small toys. They also provided adults with bags filled with hygiene items, shoe laces, and gospel tracts.
On the construction side, our team assisted with pouring the second floor of the El Milagro Child and Family Development Center. This Center is a place where families will eventually have access to a health center, after school tutoring, lessons for sewing and computer, a large kitchen where the women can bake and sell goods to help support themselves, as well as a worship center. Frazer purchased the land on which the Center is being built and has assisted in the past with funds for the construction.
The team also had opportunities to worship and have meals with the Central Methodist Church in Trujillo and the El Golf Church, which meets in the Reeves’ home. All in all, the mission trip went great and we are extremely appreciative of the partnership we have in Peru.
