John 3:7 . . . ‘You must be born again.’
There was a four year old who was at the pediatrician’s office for a check-up. As the doctor looked down her ears, he asked, “Do you think I’ll find Big Bird in there?” The little girl was silent. Next, the doctor took out a tongue depressor and looked down her throat and said, “Do you think I will find the Cookie Monster down there?” Again, the little girl was silent. The doctor put his stethoscope to her chest. As he listened to her heartbeat, he asked, “Do you think I’ll hear Barney in there?” This time, the little girl spoke up and said, “No, Jesus is in my heart. Barney is on my underpants.” Let’s get down to the basics today. Is Jesus in your heart? Have you invited him in? Is life still all about you or are you living for Him? How is it with your faith? Do you know about Jesus or do you know Him? Are you a fan of Jesus and believe in his ethics or are you a follower? Do you do religious stuff like give, pray, come to church, try to be a good person, but find you are still broken, lost, floundering, messed up, stressed up, screwed up and living in ways that you know are wrong and you are burdened by guilt. Are you a religious person but still feel that you are not good enough or acceptable enough or haven’t done enough, so you live your life having to constantly prove to yourself, others and God that you are worthy, valuable and good enough to be loved? Do you have religion or do you have a relationship with Jesus Christ? Is Jesus in your heart? All you have to do is invite him in.
