Psalm 81:10 “ …Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it with good things.”
I love to sit staring out our big bay window praising Him for the beautiful world He has made. One morning I watched a baby bird fluttering around on the porch, and he kept crying out to his momma as she was busy flying around. I sat there amazed as she swooped down and that baby bird would open his mouth so wide and she would fill it with something good. Time after time, he’d start flapping those little wings and get so excited as she came near, and he’d hold that little beak wide open rejoicing in the great treats she was providing. The verse came to mind that when we open our mouths wide, He will fill it. Are we opening our mouths in complaint and frustration, or are we opening it wide with praise and adoration for our Creator? I think of how our babies first learned to eat from a spoon. At first we had to pry their little mouths open, but then they learned to open wide and would often do a little praise dance in their highchairs over the deliciousness of something besides a bottle. Does God have to pry our mouths open, or are we eager to open it up in praise? I love what my commentary says: “There is enough in God to fill our treasures (Prov. 8:21), to replenish every hungry soul (Jer. 31:25), to supply all our wants, to answer all our desires, and to make us completely happy.” He gives liberally so open up wide in praise and watch Him fill your life with good things! – Cami Culpepper, Children’s Minister
