Millard Fuller was the founder of Habitat for Humanity. He was a successful businessman and a millionaire at a young age. He heard God calling him. He heard the cry of the poor, and he gave away his money, quit his business, and started building affordable houses for the economically disadvantaged. People all over the world were blessed by Habitat for Humanity. A few years ago, a young woman by the name of Melissa Cornett, who had received a Habitat house, was asked to introduce Millard Fuller at a speaking engagement, and when she stood up to introduce him, she said, “Millard Fuller you are the answer to my prayer. I grew up in a terrible place full of drugs and violence. I wasn’t anybody, and I knew I would never be nobody. I grew up and had a little boy, and there he was in that terrible place full of drugs and violence. I knew he would never be nobody either so I got on my knees and prayed hard. ‘Lord,’ I said, ‘Lord, I’ll do anything. I’ll give up my life, but please, God, I just want my boy to have a chance to be somebody.’ Millard Fuller, when God told you to give away your money, and you did, you were the answer to my prayer.” Can you imagine a better feeling than to look up one day and discover that God used you to be the answer to somebody else’s prayer? Every time you do something unselfish, sacrifice something to make life better for others, every time you do something kind, every time you forget yourself and focus on helping someone else, I can guarantee in that moment you are God’s answer to that person’s prayer. That is so cool and that is how God wants us to live. Are you living your life today as God’s answer to someone else’s prayer?
