Ephesians 4:32 – “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (NIV)
God created us to be kind. We were made in his image. God is kind. You see his kindness in people and people flocked to him because he was kind: the woman caught in adultery, a crooked business man name Zacchaeus, a woman who had five husbands and was living with a guy, a grieving mom or dad, a child, a saint or a sinner, the least, the last, the lost, the rich, the poor. He treated them all with simple kindness. He spoke truth but his truth was always spoken with grace and kindness and his dander was only raised against those religious people who were harsh, mean and unkind. God created us to be kind. If your relationship with God is not making you a kinder, nicer and a more gentle person, then something in you is not fully surrendered to Christ. If you are truly walking with God there will be evidence of that walk in how you treat people. Others will see the fruits of the spirit in you – love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, self-control, gentleness and kindness. God wants to grow all of us in the likeness of Jesus. He knows the more we become like him, the more we discover the good and beautiful life he has for us. He wants us to be kinder and nicer people. Kindness is such a difference-maker for others. Kindness makes this world a better place to live for everyone. Whatever else you do today, just be kind.
