“Without faith it is impossible to please God.” – Hebrews 11:6
I officiated a funeral several years ago where one of the sons spoke about his mother. He said, “My mother would often say with a smile on her face to us kids, ‘Don’t count on any inheritance money from me. I’m using up every dollar while I’m still alive.’ We all laughed at that because we knew Momma didn’t have anything. When she died we discovered that she indeed had spent what little she had. That never bothered any of us because Momma left us something better than stuff. She left us a legacy of unconditional love, amazing joy, and incredible courage. It all came from her faith in Jesus Christ. Momma lost two husbands and one child to tragic deaths. She raised the rest of us children as a single parent. She did more than survive or exist in the face of hardships. She thrived. We all knew her favorite Bible verse, Psalm 30: 5, ‘Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning.’ Momma left us a legacy of faith.” How blessed were those children to have a momma who walked by faith and left a spiritual legacy. Remember that faith is living and acting as if God’s Word were true. God expects us to walk by faith and leave behind a powerful testimony. You can leave your children and grandchildren material things and physical things, but the most important thing you can leave them is a spiritual legacy. Begin today – walk by faith.
