Frazer Pike Road
Frazer UMC showered the teachers at the new Pike Road High School with hospitality during their in-service training. Volunteers and staff, including members of Frazer’s youth ministry, served lunch and delivered snacks and goodies to the teachers all week. There is definitely excitement in the air as the Pike Road staff prepares for the opening of the 2015-2016 school year and as Frazer UMC prepares to open a multi-site campus in the new high school in February of 2016. Some of the teachers told Frazer volunteers Aimee Vinson and Brandi McNew, who organized the meals and snacks each day, that they have never felt so appreciated!
CRAVE Youth Ministry
Frazer’s CRAVE youth ministry recently sponsored two Frazer students to attend a leadership conference at Huntingdon. Tiffany Taylor and Kyle Clark will be freshmen in the fall, with Kyle attending Huntingdon and Tiffany heading to Auburn University. Tiffany shared these thoughts about the conference:
“The Huntingdon Leadership Academy was a two day long adventure to learn more about my gifts and what God has called me to do for Him. We dove deeper into scripture and learned that looking at passages one way may not be the way God intended for us to see them. We learned more about how the Methodist Church is structured and what it takes to become a pastor within the Methodist Church. Overall, my two days at Huntingdon taught me more about being a leader within the Methodist Church and within my community.” —Tiffany Taylor
Youth Worship Arts
Frazer’s Youth Worship Arts team is heading back from their summer mission trip to Detroit. The youth made stops along the way, seeing the sights and singing at boys and girls clubs among other places. This is always a highlight for the group and the many adult chaperones. The YWA will have its Homecoming Concert Sunday, June 28th at 6pm.
Children’s Ministry
Many children and their parents had a ball (pun intended) recently at a family fellowship time at Bama Lanes. About 50 parents took part along with their children taking up 8 lanes! One parent, Lori Henderson, said that she is so excited about the events that the Children’s Ministry has planned for our children and their families since the new children’s director, Cami Culpepper, has come on board. Upcoming events are Vacation Bible School and another date night in July!
SPIRIT-Older Adult Ministry
Frazer’s Atrium turned into a beautiful art gallery this past Thursday. Doris Bell offers free art lessons for anyone who would like to drop in. She covers sketching, watercolors, oil and more! Each participant works on their own project and is asked to bring their supplies. For more information, please e-mail Doris at in-his-steps@elmore.rr.com.
Do you enjoy a good game of cards, bingo or dominoes? Be sure to drop into Frazer’s Atrium and Fellowship Hall every fourth Thursday of the month for Game Day! Several groups gather each month for a spirited game of cards and a wonderful time of fellowship. It all begins at 9am.
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
