READ: Titus 2:7
Robert Fulghum once said, “Don’t worry your children never listen to you; worry they are always watching you.” Most of what our children learn is not from our words or lectures but from our behavior. Good parenting, great marriages, and great families are a by-product that grows out of the good modeling of Christ-like behavior. Great families are a by-product of excellent Christ-like living. We don’t live perfect lives, but we can strive for excellence. I don’t want to be a mediocre husband or a mediocre father. I want to be a great dad and a great husband. I want to set an example for the family that is worthy to be followed that will lead them to Jesus and the best life possible. I hope you want that too. There is a country song that is a prayer about a father and his son: “I want to be like you, Lord. I want to be like you because he wants to be like me. I want to be a holy example that his innocent life can see. I want to be a living Bible that his little eyes can read. I want to be like you, God, because he wants to be like me.” It is never too late to begin to set a holy example of a Christ-like life. Are you living in such a way that your family sees Jesus in you?
