Where are you getting your directions for life? I think we are always looking for something that will help us navigate life well. We are looking for happiness, peace, love, meaning, and significance. Most of the time we look to the things of this earth to bring us that satisfaction. We tend to think to think that having more is the answer. We are right in one sense – more of something is the answer, but it is more of Jesus. Set your heart on things above. Seek more of Jesus. Some people are looking backwards and seeing only what is behind them. Some of you are looking outward. You claim to be a realist and are looking only at the facts, the problems and the burdens. Some of you are looking down. You look at only earthly things. If all you do is look backwards, around, or down, you will miss some really important stuff. We are made to look up. The best of life is not found in looking backwards, outwards, or down. Look up to the One who made you, who knows you better than anyone, who holds you together. The things of this earth come and go, but Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Look up to the One who made you, and He will show you the way to navigate this life. He doesn’t say to withdraw from earthly things. He just says to look up to Jesus, and He will show you how to live on this earth in a heavenly manner.
