Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
Frazer Nursery
Frazer’s nursery workers are sharing the Easter story with our youngsters this week, using some of the resurrection eggs created for our Easter Spring Fling. Among the children, a group here for only five weeks, with their parents stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base. Frazer member Mike Conn offers a Bible Study for the officers’ wives and our nursery loves on their children while they study the word.
Outreach Ministry—Easter Spring Fling
Hundreds of people enjoyed an exciting and meaningful Saturday morning at Frazer UMC as they participated in the Easter Spring Fling. The celebration included games, prizes, puppets, food, real bunnies and the resurrection story told in a memorable way for children and parents alike. More than 80 Frazer church members volunteered their time to make the Spring Fling a huge success. Some of those volunteers worked prior to the event assembling resurrection eggs so the story of Jesus could be shared and taken home with the children. Director of Outreach Mary Causey says, “There were so many parents who were asking questions, grabbing resurrection story summaries and listening closely to the explanation. You could see the sense of wonder and curiosity in the eyes of the children, parents and grandparents!”
“Welcome to the Frazer Family” could be heard repeatedly last Sunday, as our church family stopped by to welcome the newest members of Frazer into the life of our church. New Member Reception Sunday gives our church family an opportunity to personally welcome and get to know the newest families to join Frazer. Every 5th Sunday will feature a reception in the atrium between the 9:30 and 11am services. Be sure to stop by at the next one May 31st!
Children’s Ministry
Wednesday night SPLASH included a special visitor this past week. Constantia with Stella’s Voice, a ministry to orphans in Moldova, stopped in to visit with our children. Frazer members Kathryn and Bryan Jones are now missionaries in Moldova and Frazer’s children’s ministry is collecting items to send to them and the orphans. Many of our children poured out love and encouragement to Constantia during her time with us.
Missions
Please pray as 15 members of Frazer UMC travel to Cuba for an 8 day mission trip. The group will lead a VBS while on mission to Cuba, times of fellowship and bible study for women and men, a teen workshop and a special marriage renewal time. The team is expecting close to 200 people for a Saturday parent-teen workshop and more than 70 couples for an Easter Sunday evening Marriage Renewal Ceremony.
Frazer Father-Daughter team making headlines!
Running enthusiasts gathered in mass last month in Montgomery for the marathon and half-marathon. Many Frazer members trained for months and got to carry through on their goals by crossing the finish line. The paper caught a beautiful image of the love and unity between a father and daughter as Frazer members Jon Klaaren and his daughter Suzi Williams crossed the finish line hand in hand. This was Suzi’s first marathon and Jon’s second. They finished in 4 hours, 19 minutes and 21 seconds.
Congratulations!
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
