Casting Crowns Concert
A sold-out crowd packed Wesley Hall Thursday night for an “Evening with the Casting Crowns”. The award-winning Christian artist thrilled the crowd, of 2100, leading them in more than 2 hours of praise and worship. This was the group’s first appearance since lead singer and Montgomery native Mark Hall underwent surgery for a cancerous tumor in one of his kidneys. Thankfully doctors feel the cancer was contained and Mark seems to making a strong recovery! Josh Wilson opened the night singing his hits “I Refuse” and “Before the Morning”, among others, and impressed the crowd with his guitar skills. A special thanks to the many volunteers and staff who helped make this night a huge success for the entire community.

Only hours prior to the Casting Crowns concert, the Frazer staff pulled together to handle a crisis in the atrium. Repair work in one of the family restrooms, resulted in thousands of gallons of water flooding into the atrium area. Staff and some of the Casting Crowns road crew used buckets, mops and sweepers to help clean up the unexpected “flood” and numerous fans were placed around the atrium to help dry the carpet. Proof that it takes more than a small “storm” to stop a powerful night of worship!
Puppet Ministry
This past weekend the Frazer puppet ministry, led by Gayle Elmore, attended a Creative Ministry conference. They competed with other church ministry teams and came home with two gold awards; Originality and Outstanding Props and Scenery! Be sure to congratulate these young Frazer members— the team is made up of 5th – 12th graders!
Children’s Ministry
Frazer Children’s Volunteers in our 4 & 5 Year Old Children’s Church are “Making Melodies To The King Of Kings”. Ministry Director Cami Culpepper says, “I love how our amazing volunteers enjoy getting in there and dancing and singing and doing anything to encourage kids to have fun worshiping Jesus!”
Outreach Ministry
Frazer Tours are back! The Frazer Tour Guide team, led by Mac McLellan, took 10 of our newest members on a guided Tour this past Sunday, April 12th. Frazer Tours will be held once a quarter, on the second Sunday from 12:30-1:30. The next tour is scheduled for July 12th at 12:30.
The tour begins at the Parlor and Mac and his team go through all of the history of Frazer, covering 315,000 square feet of building space. Mac and his team takes members behind the scenes in areas such as the WFRZ TV Studio and the Prayer Tower.
Frazer New Member, Christina is excited to get more involved in what the Activity Center has to offer now that she has seen it in person and knows where to park and where it is in relation to the rest of the church. Another new member had this to say, “This is a great resource for Frazer. It is a little overwhelming being new in a large church.” The tours are open to everyone, whether you’ve been at Frazer 2 weeks or 20 years, you’ll enjoy seeing the beautiful facilities we are blessed with here at Frazer UMC.
ESL—English as a Second Language
During the second semester (Jan- April) of our ESL classes, students are encouraged to share some thoughts on what these classes mean to them. Esther Kim, a Korean student in the Intermediate 1 class, shared recently and even though she was nervous, she managed to write out her thoughts and read them to the group in English. She shared her inspiring and encouraging words with all of us:
“I come to class every week even if I often get tired after work. As I study in this ESL class, I try to speak in a complete sentence. I am more thankful that teachers always pray for the students. Because of their prayer, I want to study harder and eventually become a volunteer who helps others learn English. I really appreciate Frazer UMC for opening this class and thank God for everything.”—Esther Kim
Missions
The Frazer Charitable Trust-Centennial Mission Fund continues to help send Frazer members on long-term mission trips. This year three Frazer members have received a total of $8800 in support from the Fund. This is in addition to mission support provided through the Frazer Operations/Mission Budget. Please continue to pray for the work being done by numerous Frazer supported missionaries around the world.
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
