There are two short passages of scripture that always remind me of something I hope I never forget. In Matthew 19:26 Jesus says, “It may be impossible for you, but with God all things are possible.” Ephesians 3:20 says, “God is able to do immeasurably more than any of us can ask or imagine.” To me those words mean you can eliminate the word “never” from your vocabulary. I hear people say, “I’ll never change,” or “I’ll never get over this.” Really! Never is a word that God would not use because God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. God can do anything. The only thing God can’t do is fail. Nothing is too hard for God. So don’t get a bad taste of the “nevers.” Don’t get so absorbed in your problems, burdens, stresses, and tragedies that you forget about the glorious, amazing, transforming, life-changing power of God in Jesus Christ. If God can raise a man from the dead, He can raise you and me from whatever it is that is pulling us down. God is able to do more than you can imagine. He can transform frowns into smiles, sorrow into joy, darkness into light, death into life, sin into grace, and brokenness into wholeness. When you face one of those situations today and you start thinking about the word “never,” remember that God is able to do more than you can ask or imagine, and nothing is too hard for God.
