Welcome to Frazer’s weekly feature called the Breaking Good News! Here you’ll find how your tithing and service is touching and changing lives everyday through our ministries and programs.
CRAVE—Youth Ministry
Frazer UMC is celebrating the confirmation of 36 students. These students have decided to not only follow Jesus and claim Him as their Lord and Savior, but also to join the church family of Frazer. We are blessed to have these familiar faces as full members of our church and are eagerly anticipating the great things God will do through them.
The Confirmation process began in early February for this group. Over the course of six weeks, the students were exposed to a clear understanding of the Gospel and given a chance to spend the day with our pastors. We celebrate our newest official members of the Frazer Family!
Outreach Ministry
Frazer Senior Pastor Dr. Tim Thompson and his wife, Virginia invited new members to their home to welcome them into the church family. Those who joined Frazer in January and February had a chance to enjoy dinner and chat with our pastors. A big hit at this gathering, Virginia’s homemade marshmallow shooters! Young and old alike enjoyed engaging in a little friendly combat. Be sure to stop by and say hello to our newest members at the New Member Reception in the atrium Sunday, March 29th, 9:30am-11am.
Missions—Common Ground Montgomery
Common Ground Montgomery is looking for anyone who wants to help a young person find their way! Here are few words from Common Ground’s Kevin King:
“The mentoring program is now underway! Potential mentors came out to Common Ground Montgomery recently to hear about the importance of having one-on-one long term mentoring relationships and how it may change the trajectory of a child’s life. For us, mentoring is literally life or death. After 8 years in ministry we have seen many youth come and go. Lives have been destroyed as a direct result of not having that extra needed support. We are looking for men and women who are willing to give up only a few hours of your month to ensure these young people have every opportunity to thrive.” For more information, contact Kevin King at kevin@cgmal.org.
Sunday School Support
The Mission Sunday School class took on the Great Day of Service a week early. Members of the class helped put on a yard sale Saturday, March 7th, with the money raised going to help Frazer Praise Team leader Jerrod Dorminey and his wife Abby who are in the process of adopting! The class went all out to make this a huge success. Prior to Saturday, the class met Tuesday to organize items, Thursday to price items, and Friday to move all the donated items to the location of the yard sale. Through their selfless efforts, the class was able to raise $3,561 to help the Dorminey’s bring home their third child.
Children’s Ministry
A special lesson in Frazer’s Children’s Ministry allowed kindergartners to combine their love of art with a lesson on having a servant heart. Ms. Robyn Blessings’ class created a mural called, “How We Help”. The children loved drawing how they help at home, in school and in church. Children’s Ministry Director Cami Culpepper says Ms. Blessings’ name is just perfect because that’s exactly what she is to the children she teaches Sunday mornings at Frazer UMC.
This is just some of the Breaking Good News happening in our Frazer Family! Stay tuned for more details of how God is moving through Frazer UMC.
I love getting this every week! Thank you to all who work on it!
Very inspiring and uplifting!
