Grady Scott tells a story of an army sergeant addressing a group of soldiers who were going into a foreign town on leave for the first time. The sergeant wanted to impress upon the soldiers the importance of proper behavior, and he said, “Men, you are the United States! These people will think either badly or positively of our country based on your conduct.” The Bible says believers are foreigners, travelers, on a journey home. And Jesus told his followers how they were to act as they traveled. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Jesus tells us that what people think of Christ, and Christianity is based on what people see in us, what people hear from us, the people who bear His name. We can’t live this Christian life if we don’t stay connected to Jesus and grab by faith onto the TRUTH of God and His Word. But when we go out into the world, Jesus tells us that people will know that Jesus is real and that we are His representatives, His followers , if they see us loving each other. It is our extravagant love that shows the world we belong to Jesus. Today show someone in how you treat them, speak to them, and love them that you belong to Jesus.
