READ: Colossians 4:6
I love the words of Colossians 4:6, “Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” As a follower of Jesus Christ, we are to speak graciously to others so that others will hear the love of Jesus in our words. Sometimes, as Christians, we speak hard, harsh, judgmental words to those outside our faith. Paul says, “Be careful how you speak.” Virginia was talking to the lady who did her hair. Virginia asked her if she went to church, and the lady said she didn’t have much use for the church. She said she could never see much difference in the life of churchgoers than non-churchgoers. They talked some more and Virginia was kind and gracious and understanding, and the lady said, “I’ve had so many people ask me if I were saved. I’m really not quite sure what that means so I tell them no and then they proceed to ask personal questions about my life and tell me I am going to hell. But they don’t even know me.” This lady had been turned off to Jesus by the lack of gracious and attractive words from well-meaning Christians. Be careful, gracious, kind and always loving in your words toward others. The greatest witness for Jesus Christ is not trying to arm twist somebody into the faith, but by simply being kind and loving and gracious. Remember Christianity is all about loving Jesus and loving people and if we do that others will b e pointed to Him.
