My children gave me a metal detector for Christmas. It brought back memories of countless hours in my younger years with my momma and that my children spent with their Mema searching for treasures around my great-grandmother’s home. My momma had a metal detector, and one of her favorite things to do was to take her children and grandchildren on treasure hunts. We were convinced that there was buried gold or silver around the ruins of that old home. We didn’t find any gold, but we found buckles, buttons and cooking utensils and it was treasure to us. People are always looking for treasure that they think that once they do have it that it will make them rich. The Bible says if you are looking for a treasure to make your life rich, then don’t spend your life with a metal detector. Spend your time looking in the Bible searching for God’s wisdom. Once you find wisdom, the skill to live by God’s design, you will be wealthy beyond measure. Remember Proverbs 3 says, “Wisdom is more profitable than silver and her wages better than gold. Wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. She will guide you down delightful paths, and all her ways are satisfying.” Live life by God’s design, and you will find life’s greatest treasures.
