Jeremiah was a teenager when God spoke to him and said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you to be a prophet.” Jeremiah was shocked at this announcement and he replied to God’s call by saying, “But Lord, You don’t understand. I don’t know how to speak. I can’t do this. I am only a youth.” I don’t know of any more deadly words than “I am only.” They are dream-killer words. I hear them a lot. “I am only human; I am only one person; there is nothing special about me; who am I that I can do great things for God?” Jeremiah said, “I am only a youth; I can’t do this.” God boomed back, “Don’t say you are too young or you are only a teenager. You can do it, and you go where I send you. You say what I tell you. You don’t need to be worried or afraid, for I will be with you.” No matter where you are in your life right now, God has something for you to do for Him that can make a difference. Where you don’t think you can, God can. Whatever you can do for God and His church or to make a difference in the life of someone else in a beautiful way, go and do it. It may seem small or insignificant, but nothing you do for God is ever wasted. And everything you do for God, can lead to even greater things.
