Minots Ledge Lighthouse is situated southeast of the Boston Harbor. The lighthouse light has a distinctive 1-4-3 flash – a single flash followed by an interval of three seconds; then four flashes separated by one second and then another interval of three seconds followed by three flashes separated by one second. It has become known as the “I Love You” light. (1-4-3 being the number of letters in that phrase) It seems that Winfield Thompson served as an assistant keeper of the lighthouse. His wife and children, at night, could see the 1-4-3 flash from the lighthouse and the wife told the children that it was their father saying to them, “I love you.” The cross is God’s way of saying to us, “I love you.” The cross stands as a beacon of light that guides us through all kinds of messes created by the storm of sin. Through the light of the cross God declares, “I love you, you can be forgiven, you can begin again, there is peace beyond the storm, and you can live forever.” Let the ‘I love you’ light from the Cross guide your life today.
