A ten year old girl named Ashley was invited to speak at the mayor’s prayer breakfast in Washington, D.C., a few years ago. She reminded the audience of a verse in Matthew 18:3 that says you must become like little children to enter the Kingdom of God. She said, “You adults teach us that when we have problems we can talk them out with Jesus, but we notice as you get older you seem embarrassed to talk to one another that way, and we wonder if you really mean it or is Jesus just for kids.” She concluded, “I’m young enough to believe that Jesus can solve all of my problems, the problems of our city, and the problems of this world.” I agree with Ashley. Often as we grow older, we throw money and education and enlightened intellectual solutions at our problems, when all of the time Jesus is our best hope. You may face problems in this world bigger than you, but you won’t face any problems that are bigger than Jesus or His ability to help you solve them. So why not just have a little talk with Jesus. I love the lyrics of the song, “I may have doubts and fears, my eyes may be filled with tears, but Jesus is a friend who watches day and night. I go to Him in prayer; He knows my every care. And just a little talk with Jesus makes it right.”
