To listen is to make a conscious effort to hear, to give ear to, attend closely, take advice, or to pay attention by listening. Several months ago Wayne Sigler shared in a meeting that our Christmas musical would be titled, “Listen’’. After that in my quiet time, the word listen kept appearing in my scripture reading. Here are some ways listen is used in scripture: come and listen, listen to me, Listen! Listen! keep listening to my words, listen to advice and accept instruction, listen to My voice, listen for the time to come, you shall listen, they will listen, God listened, The Lord listened, they will turn away from listening, you should have listened. I got the message….listening is a form of obedience. In Psalm 62:1, David wrote, “I will wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him.” Verse 5 says, “Let all that I am wait quietly before God for my hope is in Him.” This Psalm ends with David saying, “God has spoken plainly and I have heard it many times.” We have to make a conscious effort to hear. Are you listening as you go through each day? He has something to say to each of us. Don’t miss it. Other Scripture references: Isaiah 41:1, Ezekiel 3:27b, Proverbs 23:19
