Our Cuba mission team met on Monday night for a packing “party.” Ladies, have you ever tried to put your size nine foot into a size seven shoe because it was SO cute? Then you understand how difficult it was to pack all the things we need in Cuba into a very limited number of “little black bags!” We have so many things we desperately want to take to our needy friends in Cuba, but you all know what happens when you travel via airplane! You can’t take it all! We are taking one hundred Bibles (you can’t buy a Bible in Cuba), teaching supplies for
a parenting course Mike and Lisa Conn will be leading, craft supplies for ladies ministry, medical supplies (scarce in Cuba), games and Bible stories for children’s ministry etc.

Did I mention you can’t by Bibles in Cuba? Well, the truth is it’s difficult to buy ANYTHING in Cuba. We even need to pack brownies for the ladies tea and candy for the children’s event! Besides all this we each had to figure out how to reduce all of the personal items we need for the week into one small bag that weighs no more than 20 pounds! No high heeled shoes or suits for church on Sunday!
Please pray for our fearless leader Brent Smith as he tries to “heard the cats.” Also pray for the other team members in their specific areas of leadership on the trip:
- Tamy Aman: women’s Bible study leader
- Linda Hines-Hornsby and Mary Lou Stevenson: craft activities and women’s Bible study
- Betty Smith: children’s program and women’s Bible study
- Mike and Lisa Conn: Bible Centered Parenting course
- Brent Smith, Larry Stevenson and Truman Hornsby- preaching, men’s Bible study and construction
