New Member Dinner
Senior Pastor Dr. Tim Thompson and his wife, Virginia hosted a New Member Dinner to celebrate and welcome those joining the church in 2014. New Members got to know our pastors better while enjoying a delicious meal, and new friendships were made among those joining the Frazer Family. Here are a few thoughts from some of the new members at the gathering: Marquis Jones said, “Beyond awesome today! Not just a Church but a true family that I’m glad to be a part of.” Patricia Roanoke said, “We had such a wonderful time. The kids had a blast! We are so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful and welcoming church family.”
Second Mile Spirit—Volunteer Spotlight
The Second Mile Spirit celebrates the fact that every volunteer role at Frazer is more than a job to be done, it is a calling to love God by serving others. Volunteers exemplify the Second Mile Spirit when they go above and beyond expectations to meet a need, bring a smile, or make a friend. Jesus taught us, ‘whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two’, for it is on the Second Mile that the love of God shines through.
Avery Turner displayed having the Second Mile Spirit when she signed herself up to be a greeter during our Ministry Expo. She heard Patrick say during a sermon one Sunday morning, “If you’re a cheerleader, we want you at our front doors!”. Avery told her mom, Tiffany Turner, “Mama, I can be a cheerleader”. Avery is a natural greeter and brings a huge smile to every person that walks in our doors. She did not see her age as something that should hold her back from answering the calling to serve where the church needs me. Her contagious energy and beautiful smile is something that inspires everyone around her to go the extra mile along with her!
CRAVE Youth Ministry
Call it a magical trip for seniors in Frazer’s Youth Ministry! For the second year, Crave has taken the seniors on a trip to Disney to celebrate their high school graduation. The trip is open to students that are actively involved in the student ministry through serving, attendance and leadership. This year 12 students along with Bryan Levangie, Brittany Finch and a few parents made the trip to Orlando. We are proud of these students and pray that while at Disney World they not only enjoyed themselves and felt celebrated, but that they also had an opportunity to share their story with someone along the way.
Sports and Activities Ministry
Upward Basketball is getting underway in the John Ed Mathison Activity Center. Here’s a recent heart warming testimonial of all the Upward program does for the children and families who take part from Activity Ministry Director Craig McKissick: “I heard the garbage truck coming down my street this morning and hustled out to roll the trash to the street. I decided to wait until it was emptied and roll it back to the house. As I was talking to the guys at the curb, the sanitation truck driver got out of the cab to speak to me. He said, You probably don’t remember me but my son played in the Upward Basketball program at Frazer. He extended his hand and said I wanted to thank you for what you did for my son. The Upward program gave him a good foundation and I really appreciate it. Wow, what a great way to start my day! Often times we don’t know the impact we have on the people in our ministry programs but today God allowed me this gift.”
Children’s Ministry
Frazer’s atrium turned into a “drive-in or sleep-in” movie theater this past Sunday evening. More than 100 people, many dressed in pajamas, gathered for a special movie night hosted by Frazer’s Children’s Ministry. The free event featured the Lego Movie and provided a wonderful time of family fun and fellowship.
Chapel Rededication
The Frazer Family is invited to a rededication ceremony for the newly refurbished Founder’s Chapel. This beautiful sanctuary served as Frazer’s first house of worship at this location and continues to play a meaningful role in the life of Frazer. Chapel pews were offered as special memorials, and as of this week, they are all designated. Frazer members who donated $1000 each will have an appropriate plaque on a pew, designating who they are honoring or memorializing. The rededication ceremony is this Sunday, November 16th at 12:15pm. Everyone is welcome.
