Brittany Maynard, 29, is suffering from a brain tumor. Brittany has announced that she will take a pill and end her life. While hundreds of people are giving opinions, Kara Tippetts*, at 36, speaks to Brittany from one hurting heart to another. Kara is also dying from cancer. Kara doesn’t minimize the pain of her cancer; Kara tells Brittany about the love of Jesus. Kara tells Brittany about the value of each and every breath and the love of Christ. “He walks with me in my dying. My heart longs for you to know Him in your dying.” Kara’s terminal diagnosis has made her qualified, one person who can relate, the one person Brittany might listen to. We have unique stories. When we are willing to share, these stories become meeting places where our heart can meet the heart of another. When we are willing to expose our struggles and become vulnerable to others about our pain, God uses our stories to soften hearts and create bridges that the Holy Spirit walks across. The love of Jesus is carried from one heart to another. Are you willing to share your story?
