READ: Job 22:21
Everybody has some difficult days, and occasionally we all get down in the dumps. When I get the blues I remember these words, “The nicest place to be is in someone’s thoughts, the safest place to be is in someone’s prayers, and the best place to be is in God’s hands.” Whenever you are having one of those horrible, terrible, no good, very bad days, don’t forget you are still being held in the hands of God’s. I think about Job who had a lot to be depressed over. He had lost his wealth, children, health, his friends doubted him, and his wife had turned against him, but Job worked through all those problems and found his way back to peace. What was his secret? He said in Job 22:21, “Acquaint yourself with God and be at peace.” Sometimes we acquaint ourselves with our problems. Acquaint yourself with God. He will lead you back to peace and joy. I am not a great flyer. I prefer to drive, but most of us have been on a plane when you hit some turbulence. The pilot comes on, tells you it will get a little bumpy as the plane goes through some slight turbulence, and that the plane is going to climb a little higher and get over the turbulence. The plane goes up, and smooth flying returns. When you hit those turbulent spots in life, if you will look up toward heaven and get close to God, it is wonderful how things seem to smooth out.
